In Elm class, you will meet an enthusiastic, happy class who enjoy new learning opportunities and rise to the challenge! As year 5, we are enjoying being the oldest in the school this year and being role models as we expand as a Primary school.

As soon as we come in the morning, we are ready to learn. We start the day with a challenge to warm us up for an active day of learning. We always look at the visual timetable to see which subjects will be linked into our topic that day and which teachers will be taking the classes. We really enjoy having lots of different teachers, being experts in their subject areas, teaching us!

In English, we like studying a variety of literature together and developing our own writing skills from the famous writers we aspire to be like. We like to develop our grammar skills and apply them in our writing. We spend time developing our figurative language so we can use new linguistic techniques in our writing. We also enjoy applying our English skills within our topic work within our

Topic books. In Maths, we are learning new calculation methods all the time and applying these to our problem solving. We are developing our reasoning skills by explaining our answers and justifying our working out. Mrs Collis and Mrs Atherton like to give us extra challenges to really impress them with our calculation skills!

Our presentation of our class books is of a high quality and we are really proud to show any visitors our learning journey through our class books. We also have colourful displays showing our learning in our classroom and can really impress you with what we have learnt. When in class, if we get stuck or find our learning difficult Mrs Collis and Mrs Warren are there to help us. When we celebrate our work we get Principal’s awards for the pieces we are most proud of.

To celebrate our successes, Elm class gain Dojo points that they collect for showing the values of the school, keeping on task in lessons and persisting to move our learning forward. We particularly like when a visitor notices us for our hard work and gain a point! As we gain more points, we win prizes and earn certificates that we are really proud of. We also work towards a whole class reward, adding out points up and gaining a learning reward of our choice, like extra computing time!

Welcome to Oakley Primary Academy

On behalf of the governors, the staff, pupils I would like to welcome you to Oakley Primary Academy. We are friendly village school with exciting times ahead as we continue along our transition of moving towards a primary school with our first year 5 pupils joining us this year. We are a member of the Sharnbrook Academy Federation and work closely with all of the schools within the Federation, as well as other schools and pre-schools in the local area. This enables us to share expertise, good practice and learn and move forward together. The close links we have with the pre-schools enable us to really get to know the pupils and their families before they join the Early Years.

We are proud to be a ‘Values School’. The values we teach are modelled by all of the team and through our teaching of the curriculum. We are a supportive and hardworking team, where all stakeholders are valued and listened to.

At Oakley Primary Academy we deliver the National Curriculum through a creative curriculum so that learning is creative, fun and meaningful. There is a clear progression of skills in each subject to enable children to grow in all areas and be successful, not only in key assessments, but in daily life.

We work very closely with the families of our school and acknowledge the importance of close home/school links. We have an open door policy and there is always someone available if you wish to talk.

I am extremely proud of our school and of all the hard work from our pupils, families, staff, PTA and governors.

If you would like any further information about our school please make contact via the details on this website.
